Thank you for choosing Smart Interview. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our AI-powered interview assistant application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information
When you purchase or try Smart Interview, we may collect personal information such as your name, email address, billing information, and other relevant details necessary to provide our services.
1.2 Desktop Interview-Assistant Data
When you use the desktop interview-assistant (live transcription) feature, your interview conversations, transcriptions, and AI responses are processed locally on your device and are not stored on our servers. This local-only handling applies to the live interview-assistant feature specifically; it does not cover the resume / CV and Interview Dossier data described in section 1.3.
1.3 Resume / CV & Interview Dossier Data
What we ingest. When you upload or paste a resume / CV — from the dashboard or the interview-preparation flow — we extract its text and store it so we can generate your personalized Candidate Match and tailored cover-letter content within your Interview Dossier.
Retention scope. We keep one CV per account. Uploading a new CV overwrites the previous one. Your CV text is retained at the account level until you delete it.
Third-party processing. To produce your CV summary and Interview Dossier, your CV text is sent to the AI model providers we use to operate the service (for example, OpenAI and Anthropic). It is not sold or used for advertising.
How to delete. You can delete your stored CV at any time from Dashboard → CV / Resume (or the Profile page). Deleting it removes the stored CV and its summary from your account.
Important — already-generated Dossiers. Deleting your CV does not retroactively remove the CV-text snapshot already embedded in Interview Dossiers that were generated before deletion. Each Dossier keeps the snapshot of the CV it was built from so previously delivered Dossiers stay intact. To remove that data as well, contact us at support@trysmartinterview.com.
2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to provide and improve our services, personalize your experience, and facilitate customer support.
2.2 Communication
We may use your contact information to send you transactional emails, updates, and important information related to your account and subscription.
3. Information Sharing
3.1 Third-Party Service Providers
We do not share your personal information with third-party service providers, except for payment processing through secure, trusted providers and for the AI model providers that process your CV text and inputs to generate your Interview Dossier (see section 1.3).
3.2 Legal Compliance
We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to a valid legal request, such as a court order or government inquiry.
4. Security
4.1 Data Security
We employ industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
4.2 Payment Information
Credit card transactions are processed securely through Stripe, a trusted third-party payment processor. We do not store your complete payment information on our servers.
5. Changes to Privacy Policy
5.1 Notification
We will notify users of any material changes to this Privacy Policy through email or a prominent notice on our website.
5.2 Consent
By continuing to use Smart Interview after the effective date of changes, you consent to the updated Privacy Policy.
